Implementing reading instruction with the Orton Gillingham approach gives students the opportunity to develop reading skills with multisensory experiences.
Building Writing Skills
Writing is a complex skill, requiring executve function skills and knowledge of the writing process. With a step-by-step approach, students experience growth in writing!
Grammar skills are built through The Grammar Case, with a color coding system to master the basics of grammar and move on to writing foundational and advanced sentences and paragraphs.
Grammar activities include researched based strategies, cognitive anchors and games for engaged learning!
Executive Function Skills & Study Skills
Learning how to learn makes the difference between success and failure for students with learning difficulties.
Assessments
Knowing how to set goals and determining where to begin instruction is the key to success in learning.
Two types of assessments can be useful to get started:
Screening Assessment
General reading assessment, quick tool which provides a snapshot of a student’s current reading level. These assessments will show possible red flags for students with learning difficulties or dyslexia and indicate a possible need for a more in depth assessment.
Diagnostic Assessments
In depth assessment, useful for understanding strengths and weaknesses, then identifying instructional goals to support learning.

The Wandling family began homeschooling when our children were 6 and 3 years old, because of health concerns, and it was the best decision ever! At first it was overwhelming – curriculum, schedules, individualization for struggling children, parents working…so much to figure out!
What a joyful journey it has been! We have had the incredible privilege to teach our daughters, as well as train and support numerous homeschoolers for the last 20 years!
